ARAN SLIPFORMED SLOT DRAIN
A discrete slipformed drainage system, the "slotted drain" can rapidly
receive and channel liquid away from pavement surfaces.
The application of "slotted drain" is as diverse as were pavement drainage
systems are employed.
Applications include:
 | highways, |
 | parking lots, |
 | airport pavements |
 | commercial pavements |
 | industrial pavements |
 | agricultural pavements |
 | sporting pavements and many more. |

SLOT DRAIN
APPLICATION SUMMARY
The "slotted drain" is slipformed as a discrete shape. The cylindrical channel and slot drain is
slipformed as one continuous section. Thus
eliminating a separate kerb and drainage system. The
"slotted drain" is a complete drainage system.
The "slotted drain" allows maximum utilisation of pavement surface. All that is seen of the Concealed Drainage System
from the pavement surface is a slot. The
drainage system can be safely driven on by vehicles.
The "slotted
drain" avoids collecting rubbish in the drainage system as the liquid entry to the
drain is through a 2-5cm slot.
Cleaning of the drainage system is simply done with high pressure water along the slot. Access points every 50-100m along the drainage
system allow for removal of material.
Barrier wall (new jersy) can be paved directly on the "slotted drain". Maximum drainage efficiency is retained whilst
utilising all the pavement to the edge of the wall.
Construction and maintenance costs of the integrated drainage system are lower
than existing systems.
Aran - Gaine CF® developed by French polymer specialist, Interface Développpement, is
used to slipform "in situ" any type of cylindrical channels, slotted or closed. An inflated tube developed for this application is
made up of three different polymer layers. Based
on extensive research the inflated tube resist perforation and abrasion, and both air
pressure and concrete pressure during sliforming.
The Aran - Gaine CF® is simple is environmental friendly.
The inflatable tube is only used during the construction of the
"slotted drain". It is discarded
after the concrete has cured. The Aran - Gaine
CF® is non-toxic even when incinerated.
The strength and ease of use of the Aran - Gaine CF® will increase the productivity and
profitability of constructing drainage systems.
Already used on over 900km of highways in Europe, the "slotted drain" system is
a preferred drainage system by designers, highway authorities and contractors.

The slipforming of "slotted drain" using Aran - Gaine CF® is made simple with
the use of specific equipment for its set-up and inflation.
The Aran - Gaine CF® is supplied as a flat roll. An
unrolling wheel is assembled to the roll to protect the tube from damage during unrolling.
A blast pipe and regulator kit connects air supplied by a compressor to the Aran - Gaine
CF®. The Aran - Gaine CF® is fitted to the
blast pipe securely. The regulator maintains
the required air pressure within the Aran - Gaine CF®.
A metal clamp seals the end of the tube section allowing the tube to be
inflated.
Metal hoops can be used to retain the inflated Aran - Gaine CF® from movement due to
wind.
Why use the "Aran Gaine CF®"
 | Convenience.
 | Small storage volume and weight
|
 | Only requires a compressor for inflation.
|
|
 | Polymer Material.
 | Suitable for use with slipforming
|
 | Ideal for contours
|
 | Can be used in reinforced sections.
|
|
 | Productivity.
 | With a slipform machine, up to 500metres of "slotted drain"
can be slipformed with a four man team in one day.
|
 | The Aran - Gaine CF® can be removed as soon as the concrete is dry.
|
 | When deflated the Aran - Gaine CF® can be withdrawn easily.
